BlueWave Management Group’s owner, Tim Smith, spent many vacations in New Smyrna Beach when his children were younger, long before he moved to New York. Missing their dad, his adult children asked him to move back to Florida, so he decided to return to New Smyrna Beach for a five-day weekend. In a fated twist of events, the 2020 global pandemic prompted nationwide stay-at-home orders, and Tim soon found himself as one of only a few guests in the building. Leaning into the silver lining, he broke his lease in New York and decided to make New Smyrna Beach home.
As an owner, once he became more involved with the association and saw the need for change, Tim was asked if he would join the Board of Directors. He agreed, despite having a full-time remote job, because he recognized that he could add value from his 30 years in business. After a year of being on the board and working with multiple management companies, Tim realized the need for a professional association management company in our area.
New to the association management industry, but not new to business, Tim applied his fresh lens to building a professional management company. By becoming professionally licensed himself and by partnering with experienced managers from the industry, Tim began building BlueWave Management Group. The company focuses on bringing leading-edge software solutions, fiduciary responsibility, community involvement, and a "Beyond Reasonable" approach to service - rather than just 'it's always been done this way'.
He was so passionate about the opportunity that he spent the first eight months of ownership focused on increasing management and owner communications, board of director transparency and using technology to enhance customer service, which catapulted BlueWave Management Group into the fast-growing company it is today. BlueWave Management is expanding into new markets while ensuring a positive experience for the Board of Directors, owners and team members.
